Bariatric Surgery

Mr Marco Adamo is the Lead Surgeon for bariatric surgery at the prestigious University College London Hospital where he works since 2007. He graduated in 1995 with full marks and honours in Palermo, Italy, where he also completed his training in general surgery. Since 2000 he has moved to United Kingdom and has dedicated his activity to advanced laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery. He has been awarded an MD by Leeds University for his research on appetite hormones and bariatric surgery.

Member of the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), British Society for Metabolic and Obesity Surgery (BOMSS), Association of Upper-GI Surgeons (AUGIS) and Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons in UK (ALS), he is a fully established and experienced laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon with an international reputation and over 9 years experience in laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, gastric banding, and complex bariatric revisional surgery. He is a pioneer in single incision bariatric surgery having performed the first single incision laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in UK. He has also a specific interest in laparoscopic hernia surgery. He is a dedicated trainer in laparoscopic bariatric surgery and laparoscopic hernia surgery and often runs advanced training courses for UK and European surgeons.
