Advanced Communication Skills Training (ACST)

Based on the Connected© ACST this two-day course is designed for those in senior healthcare positions (Band 7+) who work regularly with patients diagnosed with cancer.

This highly rated evidence-based course offers a unique setting in which to develop new skills and improve areas of difficulty, using expert actors and video feedback.


The programme:

  • Is experiential and learner led and provides the opportunity to work on individual clinical challenges ensuring learning is directly transferable to clinical practice. The agenda for the course is set by the participants in response to their personally identified learning needs
  • Includes discussion of the research evidence surrounding communication in cancer care, interactive exercise, and role-play in small groups with actors
  • Provides participants with a safe and supportive environment to practice skills and receive positive and constructive feedback 
  • Led by accredited nationally approved facilitators and is awarded continuing professional development (CPD) points for medical staff and a certificate on completion


Participants are expected to take part in all aspects of the course, and must attend both days to receive their CPD points and certificate.
